Tutorial 2: Creating a Plant List in Vectorworks 12.0.0
This is a tutorial describing how to bring a plant list into your drawing, and update it so it reflects the plant information you have on your drawing.
Step 1: Open a new VW document
Step 2: Open the Resource Browser (RB) by going to Window>Palettes>Resource Browser; The short cut for this is "Alt-R or Apple-key-R".
Step 3: Select the single drop-down arrow at the top-right of the RB window, across from where it says "files and folders"; Choose Browse a document...
Step 4: Navigate to the Plant List template file. Find this folder on your computer:
Vectorworks 12.0.0>Libraries>Defaults>Reports~Schedules>Plant Lists.mcd
Select this file and choose Open. You should now see this file selected in your RB window
Step 5: Double click on one of the Plant List options (Plant List Basic, etc) to see the plant list appear in your VW document. It will be empty when you first bring it into your drawing, we will see later how to update it to reflect the plant population of your drawing. It is now ready for use.
Step 6: Even after you add some plants to your drawing; you will not see them update automatically in the Plant List. Notice in the example below, I have 6 plants shown in my drawing, but the quantity in the Plant List table is showing 5 only.
You must open the Plant List by double clicking on it in the drawing to make it editable and choose "Recalculate" from the drop down.
Locate recalculate in the drop down menu by clicking on the small arrow at the top left of the plant list table (directly below the red x). Could they have made the arrow any smaller, I ask?
Step 7: After choosing recalculate close the window, and see the number updated in the drawing. Now you should see your plant list update to reflect the correct quatities of plants in your drawing.
